6 months agoIt’ a great archeological find.But it is a simple reminder of the secrecy of the catholic Order of the Knights Templar. In the name of their religion, they were oppressors of the Jews during their power from 1100’s to 1300’s. Thanks to Philip IV of France, ironically a catholic himself, destroyed and decimated the order.
The tunnel is truly cavernous, sections of it have low overhead (so watch your head!!!). It was used mainly an escape gateway from the city of Akko to the port where their ships would have been waiting.

7 months agoIts a tunnel.. I mean it is nice but kinda short and definitly doesn’t worth the price (49 ILS) Unless you also go see the knights halls, it’s way better and also have a nice tunnel. (Included in the ticket price)a year agoDisappointing! Cool to see but they could have been more educational. A video explaining how this was found or maintained would have been nice. Why do you have to pay 49 NIS to see this and a bunch of other sites in Akko? The best I can say is “I now did this!”7 months agoIt was interesting, but don’t buy a ticket at the tunnel entrance, go to the citadel and buy the all inclusive ticket. It’s the same price and gets you into the citadel, the bathhouse and several museums. Taking the tunnel from the wharf meant wandering back through the streets towards the wharf and coming upon the Dada art project hanging on the walls which was very cool!6 months agoTunnel which returns you back in time. The price is fair, and including 5 more attractions.

The entrance fee is not cheap but definitely worth the price.
The visit should take around 2 hours, you have this audio guide you get (included in the entrance fee) with you and tells it absolutely all.
You won’t miss a thing and it was really worth the time.

This is an amazingly well-preserved and restored ancient citadel that chronicles the history of the crusaders. This is the best old-world structure I’ve seen. Excellent exhibits with multilingual recordings and headphones available at the entrance. I highly recommend seeing this site!
Surprisingly intact Crusader Era castle. Was lost to the sands of time. Spectacular!
This was a stop on the tour we took. I didn’t pay much attention to this tour stop in the initial planning.
I was shocked at how cool Akko was. Best tour stop for me. Great mix of Arab and Israeli culture.

Awsome museum. We walk inside the medieval citadel thanks to the archaeological excavations and discover some artefacts!
The audio-guide is very complete, but sometimes it is very hard to find allt he number on the floor, walls etc. It’s like a treasure hunt!
I listen to every number on the audio-guide and it took me something like 2 hours to do the whole Tour!
I recommend it if you are passionate about the Crusades 😁
This is a great place to visit, especially in the hot summer days of Israel as the massive walls keep the temperature cool and covienient.
The halls are huge and impressive and you must go through the underground tunnel.
